Bootleg’s Best of: Britpop
Hello there! This is Ste from the Bootleg Beatles, and this my Britpop playlist (with a bit of indie thrown in for good measure). Starting off with Ocean Colour Scene and, well, ending with Ocean Colour Scene, because after all it’s my playlist and they’re my favorite! I suppose in a way, we used to look that golden period as our 60’s, having missed it first time of course. I compared these groups to bands I’d listened to before it all kicked off: Ocean Colour Scene to The Small Faces, Cast to The Who, and Oasis to The Beatles. These bands inspired a whole generation to pick up a guitar, swap your curtain hairdo for a Beatle mop, and throw your Nike trainers away for a pair of Wallabees! And of course, the original line up of the Bootlegs have roots deep within this decade, as a big part of the 90’s was the 60’s revival. Having seen the BBs on numerous occasions as a youngster with me Dad, playing with a couple of the groups on this playlist no less, it’s a nice little reminder of what a great period it was, and to be part of it! So, have a listen – there’s some killer songs on there – and yeah, enjoy yourselves!
