30 January 1999. Get Back: Rooftop 3 Savile Row. Here we have a rare snippet of the BB’s performance on the Rooftop of 3 Savile Row back in 1999! The eagle-eyed will note that Paul Cooper as ‘Paul’ is playing right-handed. A tremendous and popular performer, Paul Cooper hailed from Allerton in Liverpool, having been brought up a few streets from Paul McCartney’s Forthlin Road childhood home; Paul left the BBs in 2001. It’s also worth noting that back in those days – when the world of Beatle tribute was still in its infancy – the only Beatle guitars available were original instruments from the 1960s. Neil’s Epiphone Casino is a genuine 1965 model and is now worth around £5,000 – just as well he didn’t shave off the sunburst finish to match John Lennon’s! John’s was stripped back to the wood in 1968. The Bootlegs 2020-2021 tour will feature a special Rooftop set (now with all the right gear!) to celebrate 50 years since the release of The Beatles’ Let It Be LP.
