BB’s at Glastonbury Part 3: 2017

Beatlemania meets Corbynmania on the Main Stage

Back to the Main Stage with Lovely Rita and Jeremy Corbyn. The 50th anniversary of the release of Sgt Pepper brought a Bootleg return to the Festival Main Stage as the BBs played The Beatles’ entire classic album beautifully augmented by the 16-piece ‘Pepperland Symphonia’. There was a grey, overcast sky as the threatening drops of rain subsided and those revellers, a little worse for wear from Friday night’s excesses with Radiohead and Dizzee Rascal, had the cobwebs blown away by a blistering version of Sgt Pepper. The set was superb – detailed and sonically perfect; honed and tightened during their tour with the RLPO earlier in the month. The Bootlegs shone – even if the sun didn’t. As the band returned in triumph to their dressing room, Beatlemania was soon to be replaced by Corbynmania as the (then) Labour Leader was backstage preparing for his rallying ‘Build bridges not walls’ speech – aimed specifically at a certain Mr Trump across the pond. Later that afternoon Bootleg pal Liam Gallagher performed on the Other Stage and normal service was resumed. Another Day In The Life of The Bootleg Beatles.
