That’s why one of the biggest ever crowds in the Glastonbury history flocked to the Pyramid stage to see Mick, Keef, Charlie and Ronnie Wood close the 2013 Festival. They were loud and they delivered. Meanwhile, two and a half fields away, down at the Acoustic stage, around a thousand festival ‘rebels’ gave themselves shelter under the Big Top to watch The Bootleg Beatles. In the sixties The Beatles and The Stones staggered the release of their discs to maximise record sales – this time there were no such concessions – it was a head-to-head play-off. As the Bootlegs ticked through their set list, slowly the crowd numbers swelled and by the time Steve White took to the stage to sing Yesterday there were enough members of the Bootleg chorus to drown out Brown Sugar over half a mile away. Well, almost. The next day the Guardian ran with the headline – ‘Move over Rolling Stones – Here Come The Bootleg Beatles. The reviewer’s verdict of the Bootlegs’ set – ‘Satisfaction’ of course!
